A multi-joint exercise & concentric exercise, using a barbell with a pronated grip, in bent-over position.
Considered a middle-back exercise, with the following muscle groups:
- targeted: lats and traps
- secondary: deltoids (posterior deltoid), spinal erectors, and forearms (forearm extensors)
Level: advanced (challenging movement stabilization when bent over).
Exercise grading: B (tension is dissipated to secondary muscles).
A less challenging alternative for stabilizing movement would be a seal row or more interestingly a single arm dumbbell row.
Other alternatives, using:
- Cable: pronated pull-down
- Bodyweight: reverse row
