public food composition database [public FCD]

A food composition database that results from a public initiative, often Open Data.

It proposes, for a specific territory (generally a country), aggregated information about standard foods, and can sometimes also cover food products & food items.

E.g.: FoodData Central, Canadian Nutrient File, Food Standards Australia New Zealand, Ciqual, CoFID, Frida…

It should be noted that different public FCDs neither have the same list of standard foods nor the same food composition values as they are market-specific.
